About The Novetus Project

What is Novetus?

Novetus is a community-developed, offline/LAN revival project dedicated to preserving and celebrating the early history of the Roblox platform (2006-2012 era clients). It is a standalone client package that allows users to host and play vintage Roblox games without needing the official Roblox service.

Our goal is to create a fully functional, highly customizable, and open-source environment where the classic features, physics, and gameplay experience of those iconic years can be recreated and enjoyed by new and old fans alike.

Key Features & Goals

  • Multi-Client Support: Includes multiple clients ranging from the 2006 to 2012 era, each meticulously configured.
  • Offline/LAN Play: Host and join games locally or over a LAN/VPN without relying on external servers.
  • Master Server Integration: Functionality for community-run master servers to host public games.
  • Scripting & Modding Tools: Built-in Client SDK and custom scripting support for easier customization.
  • Asset Redirection: Use a local asset database to load old textures, meshes, and sounds accurately.
  • Archival: Preservation of historical client versions and maps for educational purposes.

Novetus is strictly a non-profit, fan-made archival project and is not affiliated with, endorsed, or sponsored by the Roblox Corporation. Development Status

Project Milestones

The project is currently in a highly stable snapshot phase (as noted on the homepage). Recent development has focused heavily on improving client compatibility, network stability (especially for 2007 clients), and enhancing the ClientScript framework for advanced modding.

  • Focus: Stabilizing network synchronization across all supported legacy clients.
  • Upcoming: New features planned for map asset exporting and importing.
  • Community: Active development relies heavily on community contributions and bug reports (which can be submitted on the Home page!).
